Magdalene Lim named new Aging Center director

For Life After 50

Magdalene LimwebMagdalene Lim, a staff psychologist for the last two years at the UCCS Aging Center, is the new director for the senior-focused community mental health clinic. She assumed her role June 1.

“I am humbled and honored to have this opportunity to serve as director of the Aging Center,” Lim said. “We will continue to focus on providing affordable mental health services for the growing population of older adults while training the next generation of geropsychologists.”

Lim joined the Aging Center in 2016 as a staff psychologist after she completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in the primary care family clinical psychology track at the University of Rochester Medical Center. She holds a doctoral degree from Palo Alto University, Pacific Graduate School of Psychology-Stanford PsyD Consortium program.

Lim assumed the role held by Sara Qualls, who will return to her faculty position as Kraemer Family Professor of Aging in the Department of Psychology. She led the UCCS Aging Center for two years and will remain with the center as a clinical supervisor. Qualls will also remain director of the UCCS Gerontology Center.

The UCCS Aging Center is the only senior-focused mental health clinic in El Paso County, offering services on a low-fee sliding scale or for Medicare reimbursement. The center is among five UCCS-affiliated clinics in the Lane Center HealthCircle. For more information, visit https://www.uccs.edu/healthcircle/aging-center.
