Callen’s Pikes Peak New Horizons Band to host meet, greet

Bill Callen’s Pikes Peak New Horizons Band is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that is open to musicians 40 or older. The average age of the band is 70. The band has a membership of 50-55 musicians; former music educators, college and high school musicians, folks that haven’t played for 40 years & those no musical experience.
The band’s director, Bill Callen, taught band in District 11 for 25 years.
Mark Israel, the Band’s Associate Director is retired Air Force, and was a trumpet soloist for the USAFA Concert Band and the Falconaries.
From 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Sept. 11, Callen’s Pikes Peak New Horizons Band is hosting a meet and greet for prospective new band members. Enjoy a band rehearsal, meet Callen and band members.

The meet and greet will take place at the Awakening Church, 3445 Oro Blanco, north of the intersection of Oro Blanco and South Carefree Circle.
Rehearsals are Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning from 9:45 to 11:45 a.m. at the church.
The Pikes Peak New Horizons Band will perform a fall concert Nov. 17 at the Awakening Church. The band will perform a selection from the Broadway musical “Porgy and Bess,” a beautiful ballad, marches and a special arrangement of the “Star Spangled Banner.”
