Words of Life: After Easter – now what?

By Kay Owen-Larson
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead”
1 Peter 1:3
As we celebrated Easter, we were filled with love, hope and excitement that is only given through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. But, as we move away from those feeling, where do we go from there? I can only image the thoughts and emotions that Mary Magdalene and the disciples had when they knew that Jesus fulfilled His words by rising from the dead. But, was that the end? What did they do after that first Easter Day? They continued in the life and work that He had called them to.
Easter is not the end but only the beginning! We need to remember the resurrected Jesus, not just once a year, but every moment of every day. That cry of our heart will give us strength when we have none. It will give us victory when we feel defeated. It will give us comfort in the middle of sorrow. It will heal painful memories; it will fill you with hope for the future. It will lift you up when you have fallen.
It is easy to get bogged down in life’s problems and struggles. We can become bitter with our circumstances or distracted by everyday events, easily forgetting about that special help that came to us on that first Easter morning.
There is hope, there is love, there are blessings…we must remember the big picture, the Good News of the life, death and resurrection of Christ.
Have a blessed after Easter life with the assurance that you are loved!
